A lot of spontaneity goes into the trips that my two best friends, Sam and Lindsay, and I take. A few years ago it was a random night that we got together and booked tickets for a 5-day cruise through the Caribbean. This was my first cruise and I learned a lot through a series of ‘wins’ and ‘fails’. Continue reading “The Girls: Caribbean Cruise Edition”
The weekend of Mardi Gras, Sam, Lindsay and I took a road-trip to visit our friend Megan who lives in Nashville. We packed up Sam’s fuel-efficient Honda and headed south. It was about an 8 hour drive from Greater-Detroit and Megan had some delicious cocktails waiting for us when we arrived. That is how our weekend started and the reason this post was a little fuzzy to piece together but I managed to pick out a few of my favorite details from the trip. Well, we made it! The third and final stop of a 12-day European adventure including stays in Paris, Amsterdam and finally Copenhagen, Denmark. Copenhagen was the perfect conclusion to a week of battling through train stations, airports, and language barriers. So if you’ve stuck with me this long (Hi Mom!), it’s time to trade in our Euros for Krone and our Heineken for Carlsburg because we’ve made it to Denmark! Continue reading “Copenhagen | Girls in Europe”
I made it safely home from Europe and have finally recovered from the jet lag! This post is slightly delayed because the wifi at my house was down when I got home but it’s mostly delayed because I’ve been too tired to function.
Now that I’m rested and properly caffeinated, I think the best way to share this 12-day European vacation with you is to dedicate one post to each city we stayed in. If you’re interested in why I went to Europe and who I traveled with, check out my previous post that prefaces the trip. Stay tuned for the details about Amsterdam and Copenhagen, but for now…let’s jump into Paris! Continue reading “Paris | Girls in Europe”
My two best friends and I are leaving for our European adventure in 10 days! If you’ve read any of my other posts you’ve heard mention of Sam and Lindsay.
A Brief History of the Casey, Lindsay and Sam Travels
As a trio, we have taken numerous road trips and gone on a cruise. Lindsay and I went to New Orleans together and Sam and I studied abroad in the United Kingdom. Also, we were all Michigan State cheerleaders and traveled together a few times as part of the team.
Why We’re Going to Europe
Well, our wanderlust has escalated, our big-girl jobs are starting to pay off and our trips have grown more and more adventurous. Lindsay has an amazing opportunity to attend a conference in Copenhagen, Denmark and all she had to do was ask to get Sam and I on board.
What Our Trip Looks Like Right Now
We decided to hit up a few places before Lindsay’s conference starts. Our decision making process went something like this: None of us have been to Paris. Let’s do it. Lindsay has a friend in Amsterdam. Perfect, it’s on our way. End up in Copenhagen for a few days and boom, trip planned.
At this point, we have all of our flights and hotels booked and an idea of some must-see things in each city but we are mostly going to wing it. We are all fond of walking and wandering and making memories out of being our awesome selves.
I’ll be away a total of 12 days, spending about 4 days in each city. I’m not looking forward to lugging around 12 days worth of clothes the entire time so I plan on packing light. And packing is the next thing on my to-do list.
Any suggestions for things we can’t miss in Paris, Amsterdam or Copenhagen?
In the first week of 2013, my good friend Lindsay and I spontaneously booked a flight to New Orleans. No specific reason really. Probably just our wanderlust flaring up. Neither of us had ever visited New Orleans before and it is known for it’s excellent dining and nightlife. So yea, why not?
